The first ever Top Dog Film Tour of the UK was a barking success, with dog-lovers enjoying canine-inspired films at 14 venues, from Cornwall to Edinburgh, this autumn.
The tour featured nine short films about our four-legged friends, with Arthur, telling the remarkable story of how a stray dog in Ecuador joined an adventure racing team from Sweden on one of the toughest challenges in the world, winning the People’s Choice Award for best film.
“We’re delighted that the first ever Top Dog Film Festival tour of the UK was such a success, and huge congratulations to everyone involved with the film Arthur for winning our People’s Choice Award,” says tour director Nell Teasdale.
“Arthur is an extraordinary tale of adventure in the rainforests and mountains of South America – but more than that, it’s a story about the incredible bond between dogs and humans, which is why it captured the hearts of our audiences.”
The Top Dog Film Festival originated in Australia with the aim of celebrating the unbreakable bond between dogs and their people through independent film. Snowline Media brought the tour to the UK for the first time in 2019, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s return visit.
“The UK is a nation of dog lovers, so we’re really excited to be bringing the Top Dog Film Festival back with a brand-new selection of canine films in 2020,” says Nell.
“Top Dog joins the well-established tours of the Banff Mountain Film Festival, the Ocean Film Festival and the Reel Rock Film Tour in the Snowline Media fold, and is an unmissable, heart-warming addition to any dog lover’s calendar.”
The next Top Dog Film Festival UK tour will take place in autumn 2020, with films announced in early summer. See www.topdogfilmfestival.co.uk for more.
